OIT Planned Maintenance: Home Folder Migrations is now complete

Scheduled Maintenance Report for Brown University

Completed

OIT’s scheduled migration of files from Home Folders to OneDrive is now complete.

For the 650 faculty and staff who received notice from OIT, your computer should reboot at first login, and you will be connected to your OneDrive, with the migrated files in Documents\HomeMigration folder.

Please review our IT Knowledgebase article if you need assistance getting your files reconnected, and reach out to your IT Support Professional or the OIT Service Center.

If your computer is having connection errors, and you did NOT receive previous communication from OIT, please reach out to your IT Support Professional immediately, and do not reboot your computer. We will assist you with a migration of files, or initiate a reset of your computer’s setting to eliminate the error.

Remaining data in Home Folders will be migrated to OneDrive starting tomorrow night, and will be present in OneDrive for most faculty, staff, and students on Wednesday, June 18.

Update

OIT is performing a migration of Home Folders to Brown’s OneDrive for approximately 650 faculty and staff starting this weekend. Access to these home folders has been removed as the data is being copied.

For the faculty and staff who have received communications from OIT about the change, instructions for reconnection on Monday morning are in our IT Knowledgebase article .

If you need access over the weekend for critical life safety/emergency issues, please call the OIT Service Center at (401) 863-4357 and press 0 (zero) to report your problem and alert OIT’s on-call staff.

OIT will be performing a migration of Home Folders to Brown’s OneDrive for approximately 650 faculty and staff starting at 7 p.m. tonight. Access to these home folders will be cut off at that time.

If you have received communications from OIT regarding this change, please be sure to keep your files in sync working on the Brown network or by using VPN. At the end of the day, you should log out to save and close your files.
