If you experience the above error, we recommend clearing your browser’s cookies and cache to reset the data. Instructions to do so can be found here: https://ithelp.brown.edu/kb/articles/clear-your-browser-cache .

Also, use a fresh ‘incognito’ or ‘private’ window after that to access the application.
We also recommend checking the default language on the browser and setting it to ‘English’.

Scheduled - Starting Sunday, 9/7/2025 at 6:00 AM, OIT will upgrade the Cognos Analytics Production environment. We anticipate the system will be back up and operational by 12:00 PM on Sunday.

While the upgrade is taking place, Cognos Analytics Production will be unavailable or unstable and you should not log in.

Reports that are running when Cognos Analytics goes offline at 6:00 AM will fail. Reports scheduled to run during the upgrade may fail or not run at all. You should plan to review your scheduled reports and be prepared to rerun them manually after the upgrade.

Cognos users should watch for an email from the Business Intelligence Team after the upgrade.

Investigating - We are aware of a problem using the Google Scholar service - the service is not accessible to some customers. Google is reporting that traffic from the Brown network looks like it may be suspicious. OIT's service teams are escalating to Google to clear the alert.
